Wild (195)

*
Today, as we turned onto the street where we live, my husband spotted this WILD desert box turtle, crossing the street. We stopped the car, and Dan went to the rescue. He put the turtle on strip of gravel, beside the sidewalk. His head, which had pulled inside, out of fear, soon began poking out.

At first, he seemed determined to go back into the street.

Don't you think he looks a little perturbed at our rescue efforts?

Finally, we got him heading in the other direction, and he "scurried" (can turtles scurry?) to the other side of the sidewalk and into some shrubs in the nearby yard.

Good luck, Turtle!

Hope there is water nearby... always love hearing about others who care this much for our "animals".

Your images are lovely, great clarity to them.

Hee, a lovely little photo story! He does look rather disgruntled at your efforts, but I hope he made it back to his turtle friends and family OK :D
