Lock (238th post - 241st day of the year)

*

My mother saved this LOCK of my baby hair in my baby book.

Silk (237th post - 241st day of the year)

*

The same exchange student (see below) gave me this Japanese silk scarf for Christmas the year he lived with us. The colors are so vibrant!

Diary (236th post - 241st day of the year)

*

One of our Japanese exchange students, who lived with us for a year, faithfully kept a diary while he was in the US. He was going to throw it away before he went home, but I told him, "Someday you'll want this. It holds so many good memories, and will be a treasure to you." I told him I'd keep it for him until he wants it. It's been 17 years, and he still hasn't asked for it! [Edit: I just realized it has been 19 years rather than 17! Where has the time gone?!]

Plug (235th post - 241st day of the year)

*

A fire hydrant, also known colloquially as a FIRE PLUG in the United States.

Flight (234th post - 241st day of the year)

Distance (233rd post - 238th day of the year)

*

A distant mountain range in Utah.

Opening (232nd post - 237th day of the year)

*

This is the Wilson Arch, beside the highway, going south out of Moab, Utah. Isn't it a beautiful OPENING in the rocks?

Boat (231st post - 237th day of the year)

*

Do you see the boat? It's on the Colorado River as it passes through Moab, Utah. I LOVE the red cliffs and how their height dwarfs the boat.

Fog (230th post - 235th day of the year)

*

I've been waiting for FOG since January 1, and had to go 1150 miles from home to see some! These were taken in Missoula, Montana, this morning.

Juice (229th post - 235th day of the year)

*

A frozen JUICE concoction.

Doubtful (228th post - 235th day of the year)

*
We'd come over 1000 miles under blue skies, but, with just 100 miles to go, it became DOUBTFUL that we'd arrive before it started to rain.

And our doubts were confirmed a few minutes later. This was taken between swipes of the windshield wiper.

Map (227th post - 235th day of the year)

*

They say "40 is the new 30." Likewise, I think, a GPS is the new map. This was taken in Montana, when we were a couple hundred miles from our destination.

Emergency (225th post - 233rd day of the year)

*

We had to make an unexpected road trip to Montana. While going through Monticello, Utah, we were stopped, briefly at the scene of what looked to be a serious accident, with many emergency personnel in attendance.

12 of 12 for August 2008

I just posted my 12 of 12 pictures for August, right HERE. Take a look.

Lonely (224th post - 225th day of the year)

*
I usually get to work ahead of most people in my office suite. Sometimes I have to turn on the lights. It's a little LONELY until others start arriving.

Collage (223rd post - 222nd day of the year)

*This is a collage of a collage, if that makes sense. On the wall of Jimmy's Cafe (see my "collections" theme, right HERE), there is a huge collage of lots of people named Jim, Jimmy, James, etc. I took pictures of portions of the collage, and then made my own collage out of the various snapshots. Oh my! You might need to click on the image to enlarge it to see the details. (The template for the collage came from the Limitless Kit, by Jenny Binder
of Heirloom Scrapbooks).

Pirate (222nd post - 222nd day of the year)

*What will they think of next? :-)

Eyes (221st post - 222nd day of the year)

*Well, I still much prefer THESE EYES, but since I can't count that photo, this one will have to do.

Family (220th post - 222nd day of the year)

*Going back to April, when our son and his FAMILY were here for a visit.

Chronicles (219th post - 222nd day of the year)

*
This Bible belonged to my Dad. It was his "study Bible," and shows many signs of constant use.

Soap (218th post - 218th day of the year)

*
This container of liquid soap is about 12 inches tall, and we use it to refill our individual soap pumps by the kitchen and bathroom sinks. I've always loved the shape, the clarity of the liquid soap, and the bubbles that form when we pour from it.

Magnified (216th post - 215th day of the year)

*
We went to the aquarium today. These jellyfish were in a cylindrical tank, which magnified them for the aquarium visitors.

Model (215th post - 215th day of the year)
