This rocket stands in the corner of the parking lot of the National Atomic Museum, in Albuquerque. According to a sign posted beside it, it is a Redstone rocket. It was a Redstone rocket, with a Mercury capsule, that carried Commander Alan B. Shepherd into suborbital flight from Cape Canaveral, in 1961.

Hi Linda - you're in New Mexico? I might have known that, but am just fully realizing it for the first time. That is a place I'd love to visit someday, we are actually thinking of coming to Taos for some skiing...but now they are allowing snowboarders...so I think we decided against it. :/ Sweet rocket!
I am incredulous that you would have an actual real rocket to photograph! I am running around looking for a toy one... great photo!
I'm with Pat - so cool you got to photograph an actual one! I know some themes are harder than others - I'll probably not see a mountain, for example - but can lead to creativity (I've got an idea for a different type of mountain). But it's getting people out and about, investigating their local area, and sharing it with other people. It's like free armchair travel!

Helen, yes, isn't that true? I'm so enjoying looking at everyone's photography of their area! And although "mountain" wasn't hard for me, I still don't know how I'm going to do "beach." ;-)
Great shot! But what is funny is that I just posted 'rocket' on my blog, but not having a 'space' rocket available I went for rocket, the salad leaves ;0).
