Discovery (88)

*

Still at the children's museum. It was a morning of discoveries, including this perpetual motion machine.

Duplicate (87)

*
We went to the children's museum this morning. Sweetpea made duplicates of herself in the little house of mirrors.

And then she found the giant kaleidoscope, and we had oodles of Sweetpeas!

Clutter (86)

*
We wish we had this kind of clutter around the house more often!

Childhood (82)

*
Childhood - a time for simple joys. Feeding the ducks.

Feet (81)

*
Counting her toes.

Cuddle (80)

Sweetpea cuddles with her Mama on the couch.

Moonlight (79)

*
This is tonight's moon, taken from our back yard. It's not quite full - full moon will be tomorrow night. If you click to see the larger image, you can see more detail.

Monday (78)

*
This morning I saw this ad, on HGTV, about their Monday programming. I took this picture of our TV screen, because that's what Monday means to me . . . back to work!

Motorbike (77)

*
Isn't it CUTE?!

Technology (76)

*
Dan and I went to the Apple Store today. Now I have a pretty good idea where our tax refund may end up!

Do you see that window display on the right in the picture above - the pink one with the giant iPod? I took a picture of that window and liked how the street scene, behind me, was so clearly reflected. I'll include it, as well (below).

Knight (75)

*
We were out this morning, in the car, when Dan noticed some "knights" practicing their feudal arts in the park. "Knight!" I yelled. "I need that photo theme!" So we pulled off the road and asked this knight if we could take his photo. He, and the others, were members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA).

20% Completed!

I'm happy to say that I've completed, now, 20% of the themes for this 366 Photo Blog. We are on the 74th day of the year, and I've posted 74! No promises, though, for the future. It's getting harder as the list slims down.

Life (74)

*
Spring is finally here, after a cold winter, and look what's coming back to LIFE. My little peach tree!

Honey (73)

*
This is my "Honey," drizzling honey into his sopapilla, after dinner at Gardunos tonight. (I guess you could call this photo "The Double Honey Whammy.")

[What are sopapillas? You can check it out here. I was surprised, myself, to read that they apparently originated right here in Albuquerque!]

Green (72)

*
I drive past this bank every morning, on my way to work. At night the green flood lights that shine up from the bottom make it glow a vivid green all the way to the top. By early morning, when I pass by, the rising sun "dilutes" the green, especially toward the top, which is farthest from the green light source. I've always thought "green" was an appropriate color for a bank. But now, with all of our new, colorful currency, I'm not so sure.

Chocolate (71)

*
Sweetpea won't be here for Easter, but is coming for a visit shortly thereafter. I think I should have an Easter basket ready for her when she arrives, even if it is a wee bit late. Here are some little chocolate bunnies that will go into the basket.

Red (70)

*
In New Mexico, in the late summer and early fall, red chiles are strung to dry, so that the chiles can be eaten year round. It's an old belief that these "chile ristras," hung in front of a home, both welcome visitors and bring the home owner good fortune.

I used a Photoshop Elements filter on this one to add poster edges, giving it more of an artisitic appearance. You might need to click to see it larger in order to clearly see the effect.

Medicine (69)

*
I never had allergies until I moved to New Mexico. Now this medicine is my best friend once spring arrives. Until this year, I had to get a prescription for it, but now it's over-the-counter.

Grafitti (68)

*

Ironwork (67)

*
This is the ironwork gate at the entrance to the "lizard house" (see previous photo, below). The gate appears to be very old (unlike the house), as it shows a lot of wear and some rust. Look at the detail in it. Isn't it beautiful?

House (66)

*
This house, on Rio Grande Blvd., always fascinates me! I call it the "lizard house." The next photo ("Ironwork" - above) shows the front gate and the house in the background.

Museum (65)

*
One last shot from last week's museum visit - for the general theme of "museum." Do you see the baby in the foliage beneath the mama dinosaur? Behind the mama, and outside the range of this photo was a nest of hatching dinosaur eggs.

Spider Webs (63)

*
This is the last 2-page spread in the counting book I just finished for my granddaughter. All of the animals in the book are made from origami, and then placed on backgrounds I made in Photoshop Elements. I'm sending it off to the printer today! You might need to click on it to see it larger.

Quirky (62)

*
I struggled over whether to call this one "Quirky" or "Treasure."

"Treasure?" you may ask. Yes, it's been a treasure to me for about 27 years, ever since my son, Chris, who was about 8 years old at the time (that's his second grade school picture in the background) made this clay "flower vase" at school and brought it home to me for Mother's Day.

I remember putting some dandelions in it on that Mother's Day, but I've used it, ever since, as a pencil/pen holder. Even after 27 years, I can't help but smile at this dainty work of art whenever I pause to look at it.

It's a treasure to me, for sure. But there's no doubt that it's also quirky.

Torn (61)

*
On the way home from work, I spotted this fellow tearing the layers from this billboard. I circled the block, parked and snapped his photo.

Water (60)

*
A clownfish in an aquarium at the Museum of Natural History.

Bones (59)

*
A wolf skeleton. I loved how they positioned it in front of the wolf mural.

Tangled (58)

*
My photo-buddy, Sherry, and I went to the Museum of Natural History today. The docent tried to talk us into holding this corn snake, but we both passed on that opportunity. Instead, we asked her to hold it up for a photo. He tangled himself around her fingers before finding her jacket pocket and slithering into it.
